Privacy Policy
Effective October 5, 2026
The short version
- You don’t need an account to use pingd. Without one, your homework stays on your phone and is never sent to us.
- If you sign in, we keep your email address and a backup of your classes, homework and settings, so you can get them back on a new phone.
- No ads. We don’t sell your information or track you across other apps and websites.
- You can delete your account and its backup at any time in the app.
Who we are
pingd (“pingd,” “we,” “us”) makes the pingd homework app. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email support@trypingd.com.
Using pingd without an account
The classes, homework, notes and settings you add are saved only on your device. They aren’t sent to us, and we can’t see them. If you delete the app, they’re deleted with it.
If you create an account
An account is optional. You need one to back up your homework or to subscribe to pingd PRO. When you have one, we keep:
- Your email address, to send you sign-in codes and to know which backup is yours. pingd doesn’t use passwords.
- Your backup: your classes (names, colors, periods, rooms and end times), your homework (titles, notes, due dates, what you typed, and whether it’s done) and your app settings. While you’re signed in, the backup updates automatically when you make changes.
We use this information only to run your account and backup. We don’t read your homework for any other purpose.
Subscriptions
pingd PRO is bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. They handle payment, and we never see your card or bank details. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives a random account ID (not your name or email) and your purchase details from the store, such as which plan you bought and when it renews.
Notifications
Class reminders are scheduled on your phone using the end times you set. Turning them on doesn’t send any information to us. You can turn them off in the app or in your phone’s settings.
What we don’t do
- We don’t show ads or use advertising IDs.
- We don’t sell or rent your personal information, or share it for advertising.
- We don’t use analytics or tracking tools in the app.
- We don’t access your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
Companies that help run pingd
We use a few service providers. They handle information only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase stores accounts and backups.
- Resend sends sign-in code emails.
- RevenueCat checks subscription status.
- Apple and Google run the app stores and process payments, under their own privacy policies.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of pingd’s users.
Connecting school apps (coming later)
pingd PRO will connect to school apps like Google Classroom, Schoology and Canvas. This isn’t available yet. Before it is, we’ll update this policy to explain exactly what information pingd reads from them. Connecting will always be your choice.
How long we keep information
We keep your email and backup until you delete your account. In the app, go to Profile → your email → Delete account. This deletes your account and backup right away. Copies may stay in our providers’ routine system backups for a short time until they’re overwritten. Signing out doesn’t delete your account. Homework saved on your phone stays there until you delete it or the app.
Your choices and rights
You can see and change your homework and classes in the app at any time, and delete your account in the app. To ask for a copy of your information or for help deleting it, email support@trypingd.com. Depending on where you live, for example California, the EU or the UK, you may have more rights over your information. Contact us and we’ll help.
Children
pingd is made for students. Without an account, pingd doesn’t collect personal information from anyone. Accounts are for people 13 and older. If you’re under 13, please don’t create an account. If we learn that a child under 13 has created one, we’ll delete it. Parents or guardians can contact us at support@trypingd.com.
Security
Information sent between the app and our servers is encrypted. Backups are protected so that only your signed-in account can read yours. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Where information is stored
Our providers may store and process information in the United States or other countries, which may have different data protection laws from where you live.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll also let you know in the app.
